Back in November, the Transfer Station had to stop accepting mixed paper recycling due to limited storage space and lack of a place to send it.
But we are happy to announce that we have found a vendor who will take it, so we can begin accepting it again! Unfortunately, the market is such that we have to pay them rather than have them pay us, but this option is still more afforable than bringing it to the incinerator and has the bonus of being more environmentally friendly.
As a reminder, mixed paper includes items like newspaper, cardboard, magazines, office scrap paper, and paper bags. These items should be reasonably clean and all boxes should be flattened. Mixed paper is collected in the trailer after you drive through the Transfer Station building.
If you have corrugated cardboard, we take that separately! This type of material is more valuable, so we bale that separately and sell it for a profit. Corrugated cardboard is the type pictured below where a corrugated sheet is sandwiched between two flat sheets.
